Chapter III. Sword Division and Not Peace

Have you ever asked yourself why the land of the Jews and Palestinians are always in havoc?  Where in fact, it is the land whose people have been promised a “land filled with milk and honey”-the chosen people where the promise land was committed.  The turmoil overshadowing them would seem ironic and contradictory with what is going on in their region, would it not?

“Sword, division and not peace” http://bible.cc/matthew/10-34.htm (Mathew 10:34), is a statement made by Jesus Christ that is loaded with substance.  To me, it is His expression of discontent about the systems of governments which the Churches have enormous participation.  My key premise and evidence of these strong words of Christ is the episode of His rage over monetary exchange for commodities in the synagogues.  Christ was so displeased He created havoc overturning the shelves and tables of goods being sold.  This is a major noteworthy event of Christ because He is a Man who preaches love and submission to authority. And only yet one strange unlikelihood behavior of the Savior, and a hint such as that, made me say, that there is more to the incident than meets the eye.  This is an outright, pure and simple expression of opposition of an incorrect system.  A form of rebellion to stop buying and the selling in the house of worship-to begin with.

The Torah, Bible and Qur’an show humanity’s destiny, as one people under one God.  But all men everywhere live contradictory to this shared precept.  A malady in and about both the church and government even in this time and age. System of economics has not changed much from the time any men could even remember.  We acquire the produce of the earth with a thing called “money.”

Universally speaking, Christ was advancing the message of love for one another, especially to those who are the least among our people http://bible.cc/matthew/25-40.htm (Mathew 25:40).  To love one another is the greatest deed that also requires solutions for everyone to have a piece of happiness.  When we love, we mean happiness and wellness.  The church and government are institutions vested with such task of providing certain virtues to make people live a better life. And they are Christ’s target audience that I would put an emphasis on.

How could anyone buy anything if he/she does not have money?  How can a nation survive if they’re drought stricken-where natural resources are scarce.  Since education or acquiring needed skills is a commodity one must buy, insufficient technical know-how has an outright ripple effect, from inadequate industrial capabilities to basic medical and societal basic necessities.  Therefore, mediocrity in both trade and manpower for global marketing always equals to poverty and deprivation.  How can a nation be classified as “world-class” if certain standards are about nil?  Not to say standards or criteria is wrong, but what is, is that limiting and selfish method borne from money.  If they can not sell-they can not live.  This is a saddening fact people experience for the longest time in all fronts of human interaction and industry.

We lavish on standards of convenience with the enormity an individual or groups of individuals have: education, wealth, and how well a person is “connected.”  The truth is, life’s propellant should be love in the highest degree.  And not overshadowed or blinded by the number of zeros in peoples’ monetary currencies and gold reserves.  You may say that this is just another old cliché (remember, clichés have been clichés for a reason that it has its weight and bearing).  Although, people and countries falling in the affluent category, do their part in helping others, as we see them support those who have less, through philanthropic and government aids, and programs, respectively, such ways could only do so much in eradicating crime, corruption and covetousness which cause scarcity and vise-versa.

You’d be amazed of the theory I have behind the separation of the church and the state, or at least what the two institutions would like the governed to think.  This has something to do about the life story of Jesus Christ, His crucifixion-the result of three prime reasons: 1.) The church’s influential participation of His agony;  2.) the decision of government via the incumbent governor Pontius Pilate who handed down the verdict; 3.) and the people http://niv.scripturetext.com/luke/23.htm.  Christianity thrived, and souls have been touched in the advent of the spiritual awakening through the teachings of Christ-the gospel moved the hearts of people and has sought respite from the murderous tandem of the church and government that took place in the account of Christ's agony and sufferings.  Though, both (church and government) do not wish deaths and criminality to exist, but somehow along the way, the church would rather be distinguished differently from government and vise-versa.

My theory too is that, this is because they want to maintain peoples’ high regard to the church.  The church in general, embodies spirituality-they did not want “secular imperfections,” like criminality and discord as an example, to be associated them.  Likewise, with government, they’d rather bear all the responsibility of peoples’ daily affairs than include the church for any crisis the land may have.  Thus, the separation of the state commenced.  But then again, it can never be over emphasized that church and government are the very fiber of familial, governmental, social, educational orientation and disposition.  As old as the earth, also is the existence and impact of church and government, as the soul and body are inseparable.

How can the body stand together if the spirit within us is pandemonium?  How can we expect to even understand more of goodwill, equality, and righteousness if mayhem harbors inside us?  This is what Jesus Christ means when He mentioned divisiveness and not peace, was/is His purpose on earth.  How can the Savior be at peace and content if the land and its people are imperfect.  Besides, why would He be sent and not do anything to improve everything and save everyone.

This was a time in history where spiritual, societal, and technological disciplines needed to advance more and be strengthened.  It is His way of expressing discontent in both the church and government.  I have touched with you a bit of the form of economics the world practices today, which I had to, being it a part of the details of this book as we move along.

Christ is of Jewish descent who belonged to a kind of people who have always been in trouble for the longest time-a land that is war-torn and whose people are ever more longing for redemption from their suffering.  In spite of the God’s graceful promises, why has the land and its people experience difficulty?  I could never answer that in a more easy, and elaborate manner than this: They do not acknowledge Christ as the Messiah!  They are overtaken with pride by the appalling rate of men’s conversion, belief and faith that has stunned and touched the whole world, with the life, sacrifices, death, and gospel of Christ.  There are numerous accounts in the Scriptures stating: that from among your people-the Jews would come a Savior/Ruler.  Apparently with what’s happening, Jews are not faithful enough to understand and accept that it is Christ.  They could not comprehend the fact that without their ancestors who shouted for Christ’s crucifixion, they would not have fulfilled God’s will.  Thus, having completed the His Messianic life that was manifested by His sacrifices onto the cross.

I would also like to share how peoples’ disdain about Christ is evident even today and the accompanying hardships that go along who oppose His supremacy and Lordship as the Redeemer of mankind.  Harsh it may be said but seems like all are anti-Christ if I were radical with the term, “Anti-Christ.”
